Focus and Beliefs
The Aesthetics department strives to cultivate a vibrant arts culture
where students inspire and learn from one another, celebrating each child’s
creative expression. We aim to provide every student with opportunities
to collaborate, grow, and thrive together through the learning, creation,
and appreciation of diverse forms of the arts.
In addition to the MOE Art and Music Syllabus, our students also build
essential 21st-century skills and attitudes by inspiring thinking, connection,
communication and confidence through the following Art & Music programmes:

ArtMuse Exhibition
Our ArtMuse Exhibition showcases and celebrates the success of our Valorians’
Art and Music journey of the year. It also provides a platform for art
appreciation.
ArtMuse Week
We celebrate a week of Art & Music with fun-filled recess activities
that promotes mental wellness and collaborative learning.
ArtMuse Assembly
We invite practicing artists and musicians from our local scene to share
about different music genres and art styles, inspiring students to learn
and connect our subject matter to real-world applications.

Museum-based Learning
Students embark on a 10-week Museum programme where they learn in-depth
about museums and galleries. They learn different ways of looking at art
and go on art trails to the National Gallery Singapore to learn more about
our pioneer artists.

Ceramics Students embark on an 8-week Ceramics module
to learn the basics of pottery which include pinching, coiling and joining
techniques. They learn about the different firing process and also hands-on
experience of glazing their final art work.

Music Culture
Our school’s music program celebrates Singapore's rich musical heritage,
immersing students in local music culture.
Music Instrumentation Programme
Students will explore classroom percussion instruments for rhythm and
coordination, resonator bells for pitch recogonition and music theory,
and boom whackers for fun, vibrant rhythm practice. These activities promote
collaboration, listening skills, and a love for music.
Digital Music
Our new P2 program, Osmo Jam, introduces students to the world of digital
music creation. Osmo Jam offers an interactive and hands-on approach, allowing
students to experiment with different sounds, rhythms, and melodies, fostering
creativity and digital literacy.

Music Culture
Our school’s music program offers a dynamic exploration of both ASEAN
and Western music cultures. This program promotes cultural appreciation,
creativity, and a deeper understanding of the diverse musical traditions
from both regions.
Music Instrumentation Programme
There is a variety of instruments to engage students in musical learning.
P3 students will explore the ukulele and learn traditional rhythms with
the kompang and angklung. In P4, students will dive into Orff Instruments,
like xylophones, to explore melody and rhythm, while also developing piano
skills, music theory, and composition through the keyboard program.

Music Culture
Our school’s music program explores world and local music cultures, allowing
students to experience diverse musical traditions from around the globe.
Music Instrumentation Programme
Students will learn fundamental rhythms and techniques on the Cajon, discovering
how to produce distinctive sounds. This instrument promotes rhythm development,
teamwork, and creativity, offering a fun and interactive way for students
to engage with music.
Digital Music
Our school’s Digital Music Program introduces students to music production
using GarageBand. Students will dive into sound design, composition, and
track creation with GarageBand’s user-friendly tools. They can explore
advanced features such as automated mixing and personalized sound recommendations,
enhancing their creative experience.
